Volvo EX60 Secures Official Australian Regulatory Approval Ahead of Local Launch

Volvo Cars Australia has reached a critical milestone for its incoming all-electric mid-size SUV, the EX60, officially securing regulatory approval for sale on Australia’s ROVER register ahead of its national arrival.

Positioned as the electric successor to the brand’s top-selling XC60, the 4.8-metre-long SUV will expand Volvo’s local pure-EV lineup to six models alongside the EX30, EX40, EC40, ES90, and EX90.

Key Specifications & Capabilities

  • Powertrain Options: The EX60 will launch in two configurations - the Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and the Twin Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The entry RWD model generates 275 kW, reaching 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The flagship AWD variant steps up output to 375 kW, lowering the sprint time to 4.6 seconds.
  • 800V Architecture & Range: Built on an advanced 800-volt platform, the RWD grade features an 83 kWh battery offering up to 610 km of range (WLTP). The AWD variant houses a larger 95 kWh pack, pushing driving range up to 660 km per charge.
  • Impressive Towing Capacity: Designed for Australian lifestyles, the AWD variant is certified for up to 2,400 kg of braked towing, while the RWD version handles up to 2,000 kg. Unbraked towing is rated at 750 kg across both models.

Local Pricing & Launch Timeline

Australian pricing starts at $86,990 before on-road costs for the entry-level RWD model, while the flagship Twin Motor AWD is listed from $101,990 plus on-roads. First deliveries are slated to commence across Australian showrooms in the coming months as Volvo continues its transition toward a fully electrified lineup.
